Travelling tips and tricks?
hey ladies! next weekend I'll be taking my 5 year old and 4 month old on a 5 hour roadtrip for a dance convention. The drive itself I'm not at all worried about. we've done 10 hour trips no problem and I've already got our stopping point planned for lunch and stretch breaks (my dad lives halfway between here and there so it works perfectly).
my concern is navigating getting not only myself but both kids and all of our stuff into the hotel. We'll have 1 big suitcase with clothes, the pack n play, diaper bag, pump bag, cooler with milk, and a massive (and I do mean MASSIVE...my 5 year old can fit in it) dance bag on wheels. What would be the easiest way to get everything into our hotel room?
-Leave the kids in the car (locked of course) while I go grab a cart to put everything on and do one single trip?
Take the kids to check in and leave them in the room then go back and make several trips for bags?
wear the baby instead of carrying her in her infant seat (it's winter in the Midwest so this seems kinda iffy) so I can carry more stuff?
bellhop service (if it's even offered at our hotel)?
I'm sure I'm overthinking things but the logistics of getting all of our stuff in by myself without leaving the kids unsupervised in the room and making multiple trips has me stressed out. Anyone else traveled alone with more than one little kid have any suggestions on how to make it as smooth as possible?
normally I'd have my husband with me and one of us would stay with the kids while the other grabbed bags but he's staying home with our middle son so it's just me.
*pic of the dance bag for size reference. thing is gigantic!
